Also, if you enjoy heavier styles of music don’t forget to keep checking my band’s blog, Suspension Of: On Stage & In The Studio. We’re almost done with our debut album. In the words of the immortal Kyle Gass, “It’s some pretty breakthrough shit.”
Everyone from iTunes to YouTube labels this as being performed by Primus. However, technically if you look at the end credits, performance credit is given to “Festus Clamrod and The El Sobrante Twangers,” a group which features Les Claypool on vocals/bass, Larry LaLonde on banjo, and Brian Mantia on drums.
This lineup, which is essentially mid/late-90’s-era Primus, also had Violina Misteriosa on violin, Bryan Kehoe as the Devil, and Mark Haggard on slide guitar and the voice of Johnny.
I think this video is pretty cool, and I’m also a big Primus fan. I do have to say, however, that I prefer the original version by Charlie Daniels.
I decided that it’s time to feature another one of my favorite webcomics. It’s called Hark! A Vagrant, a strip written and drawn by Kate Beaton of Nova Scotia, Canada. The comic features historical figures events with hilarious twists.
Observe:
These are just a few of the ones I could fit onto the blog. Most of them are full comic strips with multiple panels, and you can check them out here.
The Eagles of Death Metal are a catchy band, and the cameos by Jack Black and Dave Grohl make things a little more interesting. All in all, just a fun video to watch.
So I’ve decided to give up sugary, carbonated beverages in hopes of losing some weight. I’m also going to stay away from chocolate and most other forms of candy, along with giving up smoking for good. Of course, this is all going to be slightly complicated since I work at a gas station. However I gave up smoking once, and I can do it again. Willpower FTW.
This is great. Geddy Lee, Alex Lifeson, and Neil Peart are all talented musicians but it is a little funny watching them get 31% on their own hit song.
Just another example of how it’s just a video game.
Okay, so the one-video-a-day thing is seeming a bit too ambitious at the moment. Although, in my defense, it IS spring break. But anyway, I present to you the third video:
This video is ridiculous, but that’s what makes it good. The song itself is catchy, but the visual gags used in the video really enhances the song’s humor. It’s one of those music videos that’s just entertaining to watch. If you like this, then you should check out their MySpace page.
I drove home yesterday, just to get out of the “big city” for a day or two. Unfortunately, I’m on a dialup connection so I won’t be doing any videos until I get back.
You just have to love Minnesota-North Dakota winter weather, though. When I left at 10 A.M. yesterday, it was over 35 F and the sun was shining. When I crossed the Red River, it was still a beautiful day. Within 40 minutes of home, there was steam coming off of the asphalt on the interstate. Finally, I was driving around town last night and there was ice everywhere.
Yes, I know I didn’t post a video yesterday, but I did post a general blog so that’s different. And today’s video is…
“Fell In Love With A Girl” by The White Stripes.
1.Does the song stand on its own? Yes, for the most part. Jack White is a talented musician and knows how to write a tune. The only thing with this particular song is that it is short and fairly repetitive, so the video helps make it more interesting.
2.Does the video complement the song? If so, how? The song is about falling in love with a girl, and the video shows a boy chasing a girl, so I would say yes.
3.What does the song mean to me personally? There’s no deep personal significance in this video for me. It’s a video done with Legos to a good song by an awesome band. I just really like it.
